Let us know how you get on with it.

LG make their own screens, as well as a hell of a lot of other brands'.  They are a good enough name, but obviously not as good as Samsung, Sony or Panasonic.

You'll probably be really pleased with it!

Yes nearly went for the Sony but have read around that LG nearly matches the Bravia picture quality -whether that's true or not -who knows. You read so much stuff your head ends up spinning.

Anyway now to connection's -my set up at present:-

fly lead from cable otlet box into back of cable stb and then onto tv to feed analogue channels.
scart from cable stb into liteon and then scart out from liteon into back of tv to feed digital channels and output from liteon dvd/hdd.

With my new set up I'll just add the component leads and change liteon to output in component?
The scart should still feed the digital via liteon into tv even when liteon is switched off?

So glad I just got the 26". 32" would have been too big for my tv corner. 26" will do nicely. Funny how Tennis was on Sky Sports - looked ok with the ball-anyway back to my tv. Will post further - after 15 years with my last tv it's a big change.

Yeah, I bet!

I'm not sure if you'll get a feed through the SCART in standby or not. You should do (You probably know by now anyway)

If you don't, just take the SCART lead that connects the Liteon to the TV out and connect it between the other SCART output of the STB and the TV instead.

Do I just go to my local tv/hi-fi shop and ask for component cables. Do you get five separate leads in a bag? It says in the Liteon manual when using COMPONENT connections, please remove all other video output connections so should I just have a scart feeding into the Liteon and a scart direct from cable STB to LCD TV?

Sounds like you have everything you need right here:

Quote
I found a bag with 2 yellow, one white and two red and a white in the house.

Although it was a very confusing post.  But I would assume it to mean that one yellow is the digital co-ax, while a yellow, red and white are composite connections, and the other red and white are seperate stereo audio leads.

As said before, you can use a composite lead instead of a component lead - just match the ends so there is no crossfeed.

And with reference to the query about the SCART lead, if the manual says to remove it, then that's what you m ust do, so yes, connect it from the STB to the TV instead, as my previous post.

If you really think you need to go and buy a component lead, they come just as the three coloured ends - red, green and blue. You usually buy the audio leads separately, as most people (including you, as above) already own these.

Sorry Sue I really should have checked this better - I have the audio/video cable that came free with the Liteon dvd/hdd -it just has white, red, yellow (I actually opened the bag and checked -sorry) so would I just use two plugs from this for audio and then get a component lead for video?

- Would this do?

Or should I get a new separate audio lead as well? The  audio/video lead that came with the Liteon looks like it's for the connections on the front of the machine. Anyway thanks in advance.

Is that the only spare lead you have?  No others at all? You said before that you thought you had spare leads from the STB etc.

If you have another stereo audio lead somewhere, then you don't need to buy anything.  If not, then you have 3 choices:

1) Use this composite lead for your component connections (as said previously, it is exactly the same as a component lead except the coloured ends are different) and buy a stereo audio red/white lead

2) Use this lead for your stereo audio connections, leaving the yellow end loose, and buy a component lead (this is the most expensive option as component leads are always dearer)

3) If you really want to splash the cash, go and buy 2 new leads (but I really don't think you need to)

I might try option one and would it be ok to just try the composite lead without an audio lead first. I realise I wouldnt get any sound but just to see the difference in picture quality and then I would probably get the audio lead if picture is a big difference. Any opinion?

Yes, you can connect just video without audio - no problem. That's not a bad idea.

Have you got the TV yet? I just can't believe we are still talking about this. I would have had it set up within 30 minutes of getting it home!  Grin
