Hmmmm, looks like posting a to start with might be appropriate having wandered in here to post and looked at some of the 'recent' posting dates  Tongue

I've been having a few probs accessing the site today (it was just fine up until yesterday) and it seems that http://www.liteonusers.org.uk no longer resolves to MG's plusnet A/C webspace. Ditto the DigitalVideoForum domains. TBH, I always used to use a direct link to the PN servers but obviously updated all my links to the more 'official' looking liteonusers address god knows how long ago.

Anyways, I was wondering if good old PN have managed to screw up the DNS records (again !) just recently or whether the domains are either no longer active or not hosted by PN any more or something and so it's back to ye olde address now. Oh, and talking of things being screwed up, the info on the wiki page link has either been well hacked or someone has been generally b*ggering around on the PN cgi server again !! Could perhaps be a remnant from the previous hacking episode I guess, I only clicked on the link due to a stupid o'clock mouse/finger/brain coordination issue so I've no idea whether it should be there or what it usually comes up with as I've never actually looked at it before.

So, does anyone know what's happened and/or what is the 'official' link to the forum home page should actually be ?

This forum is extremely quiet now. The membership dwindled once Liteon ceased producing DVD recorders. The original domain was Liteonusers, but this was changed to DigitalVideoForum as we prepared to move our emphasis to a wider range of subjects.

This never really took off though.

In my bookmarks, it is saved as

http://ccgi.mgillespie.plus.com/liteon/smf/index.php

I still own a Liteon LVW-5006B, one of their original models, but only because it was changed twice and repaired two more times under their 2 year warranty! These days it is rarely used to record as I now make full use of a Sky+ box. Times change so quickly!

Thanks, I guess the domains have been allowed to expire so have therefore been claimed back by the registrars and DNS records removed then.  Back to using ye olde url's.

I go way for a little while and find it has livened up a bit!

Here I am still using the 5045 to record my progs, don't even remove the hard drive any more just whip the case lid off and connect to the  laptop with a usb adaptor when I've done a series, for conversion to Xvid for my programme archive.

So long as it keeps working, I think the only thing that will finish the 5045 is when HD becomes the norm at the Terran's household

Despite the burner problems my 5045 has been one of the best bits of kit I've bought because of the ability to copy directly to the PC - I'll keep it running for as long as I can  Smiley

It sounds like you should drill a hole in the case and run the USB adapter out as a permanent fixture..  save you having to open the case each time!

I would if I could figure out how to have the ide ribbon and the usb adaptor connected to the hdd at the same time.

I don't know if such an arrangement is even possible.
